Dr. Dre Have A Prenup With Estranged Wife Nicole Young, He Reveals In Response To Wife’s Divorce Petition:
Dr. Dre just answered his wife Nicole Young’s divorce petition and he reveals there’s actually a prenup in place that could prevent her from getting half of his $800million fortune.
Dr Dre’s wife, Nicole Young, filed for divorce on June 29, citing irreconcilable differences. She is asking for spousal support and a division of property, which is reported to be worth $60million.
The music mogul, 55, filed his response in court on Wednesday, agreeing to pay spousal support, but said the division of assets should be determined by the couple’s prenuptial agreement.
When Young initially filed for divorce, Nicole didn’t mention a prenup. A source close to her also claimed that there was no prenup.
Dr. Dre has featured in Forbes list of world’s wealthiest hip hop artists and is estimated to be worth $US 800 million (approx. $1.16 billion).
Dr. Dre Reveals Prenuptial Agreement In Response To Wife Nicole Young’s Divorce Filing:
Dr. Dre, who is said to be worth an estimated $800million, rose to prominence as the founder of Death Row Records in the 1990s before launching his hugely lucrative Beats Electronics brand, is being represented by high-powered celebrity divorce lawyer, Laura Wasser, who filed on his behalf.
His paperwork also noted the date of separation as March 27, weeks after the coronavirus lockdown began.
“Well, of course, anything he acquired before marriage is his separate property, with or without an agreement and sold Beats during the marriage and there doesn’t appear to be a separate component to it,” Los Angeles-based attorney Peter M. Walzer told Fox News following the divorce announcement. “So that’s a huge amount of money and it’s probably all community property.”
Dr. Dre and Nicole Young made their last public appearance as a couple at the Tom Ford fashion show with their daughter Truly in February this year.
The rap icon has often posted sweet messages about his marriage on his Instagram, revealing in 2018 that he has whisked his wife away to New York via helicopter to see the musical Hamilton for their 22nd wedding anniversary.
However, it now appears that things have turned sour, as his wife Nicole Young, 50, has hired high-powered Hollywood attorney Spector, whose notable clients include Jenna Dewan and Amber Heard.
Dr. Dre, who is also the founder and CEO of Aftermath Entertainment, married Nicole Young on May 25, 1996. She was formerly married to NBA player Sedale Threatt.
Young, who is a lawyer herself, is being represented by celebrity attorney Samantha Spector in the divorce.
The pair share two adult children together, daughter Truly Young, 19, and son Truice Young, 23.
Meanwhile, Dre has had a complicated personal life and has six children, four sons and two daughters, by five different women. His son Andre Young Jr., tragically died aged 20 in 2008 after a reported drug overdose.
