The New York Police Department confirmed that the gaming vlogger, whose real name is Desmond Amofah, was found dead in the East River on Monday. Detective Sophia Mason said Amofah was identified Tuesday, and that the medical examiner will determine how he died.

“On Monday, June 24, 2019 … police responded to a 911 call for a person floating in the waters in the vicinity of South Street Seaport,” – The information got by the call to the department.

How Did Etika Desmond Amofah Die:
Desmond Amofah had been gone missing since June 19, when authorities recovered his belongings, including his cellphone and identification. New York police began searching for him a little more than a day after the 8-minute video was uploaded.

“I’m sorry, y’all,” he says. “I shouldn’t have pushed so many people away. Now, I’ve got nobody.”
“I’m sorry to those of you who I betrayed,” he said. “I’m sorry for leaving such a stained legacy. I hope that my story maybe helps to make YouTube be a better place somehow in the future, to where people know boundaries and limits and how far things should go.”
“We mourn the loss of Etika, a beloved member of our gaming creator community,” the official YouTube Creators account tweeted. “All of us at YouTube are sending condolences to his loved ones and fans.”
In another tweet, the YouTube Creators account said the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline for others struggling with mental health issues.
