George Clooney’s Three-Year-Old Son Interrupts Interview – George Clooney’s three-year-old son, Alexander, bowled into the room while the actor was being interviewed as GQ’s 2020 Icon of the Year.
George Clooney’s Three-Year-Old Son Interrupts Interview:
The interruption came while Oscar-winner George Clooney was discussing his family with the publication.
Speaking about his life before he met his wife, the human rights activist and lawyer Amal, Clooney said he thought he was satisfied.
“I’m gonna work, I’ve got great friends, my life is full, I’m doing well,” he said of how he felt. “And I didn’t know how un-full it was until I met Amal. And then everything changed. And I was like, ‘Oh, actually, this has been a huge empty space.’”
The actor added that he had “never been in the position where someone else’s life was infinitely more important to me than my own. You know? And then tack on two more individuals, who are small and have to be fed…”
At which point his son Alexander walked into the room, prompting Clooney to say: “Oh, hey! Here’s Alexander. Here’s my son. Come here! Say hi! Say hello!”
He continued: “You’ve got chocolate on your face. Do you know that? What is that? Did you have chocolate?”
When Alexander confirmed that he had indeed eaten chocolate, Clooney joked: “How old are you now – 15?”
The toddler answered: “Three. Because I got my birthday.”
George Clooney Reveals He Gave 14 Friends $1M Cash For Helping Him Before He Was Famous:
In the same interview, Clooney explained how and why he gave his 14 best friends $1m each seven years ago, just before he started dating Amal.
“I’ve slept on their couches when I was broke,” he said, revealing he wanted to repay them. “They loaned me money when I was broke. They helped me when I needed help over the years. And I’ve helped them over the years. We’re all good friends. And I thought, you know, without them I don’t have any of this.
“And we’re all really close, and I just thought basically if I get hit by a bus, they’re all in the will. So why the f*** am I waiting to get hit by a bus?”
To pick up the 14 million dollars, Clooney revealed he had to go to an undisclosed location in downtown Los Angeles where they had “giant pallets of cash”.
He used an old van that had “Florist” written on it and loaded it up with the money. Clooney only told his assistant and “a couple of security guys”.
Clooney added: “And we brought it up, and I bought 14 Tumi bags, and then I packed in a million bucks, cash, which isn’t as much as you think it is, weight-wise, into these Tumi bags.”
He invited his friends to his home the next day. He said: “And I just held up a map and I just pointed to all the places I got to go in the world and all the things I’ve got to see because of them. And I said, ‘How do you repay people like that?’
“And I said, ‘Oh, well: How about a million bucks?’ And the fun part about it was: That was the 27th, the 28th of September. A year later, on the 27th of September, just by happenstance, was the day I got married.”
In 2014, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Clooney’s Gravity co-star Sandra Bullock had earned ‘at least’ $70m from the film – also her highest-grossing movie ever – after signing a deal that secured her “$20 million upfront against 15 percent of first-dollar gross.” The report notes that Clooney had similarly secured a share of the film’s profits in his deal too.
Clooney can next be seen alongside Felicity Jones in the post-apocalyptic film The Midnight Sky, which arrives on Netflix on 23 December.
