How Did Grant Thompson Die:
On Monday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Utah told the outlet that a call came about an overdue paraglider who reportedly went off the radar near Sand Hollow State Park. The caller told officials that the paraglider should have landed an hour earlier and that he was unable to be reached on his cell phone, which prompted search for the para-glider by local officials.
“Dispatchers were able to obtain an updated GPS location of the pilot’s cell phone,” said a statement posted to the department’s Facebook account Tuesday. “As the helicopter approached the area, they were able to locate the pilot’s body… Unfortunately the pilot was determined to be deceased.”
Authorities also recovered paragliding equipment and a recording device, which detectives are “currently reviewing…to determine factors which led to the aircraft crash.”
Investigators are now checking footage from the device and investigating the incident to determine what caused the tragedy.
Thompson amassed over 11 million YouTube subscribers on his “King of Random” channel and received nearly 2.5 billion views since it was started in January 2010.
