Nakira Griner’s 23-month old son, Daniel Griner Jr., was abducted, triggering an expansive search that ended when police found the child’s remains in her home, was indicted Wednesday in his murder. David’s mother Nakira Griner has been charged with First Degree Murder.
Nakira Griner is also charged in the indictment include disturbing human remains, tampering, endangering and false public alarm, according to a grand jury indictment list from the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.

The New Jersey mother Griner, 24, who allegedly told police she fatally struck her toddler son because he wouldn’t “eat nor listen to her” has been indicted on murder charges.

A consensual search also was done at the family house. Police found the child’s remains in a pink purse outside Griner’s Woodland Drive home. The burned and separated body parts of her older son were found about 3 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9. The body parts were found in trash bags and a purse, or pocketbook, in the yard of the family home at 21 Woodland Drive in Bridgeton, according to investigators.
If convicted, Nakira Griner faces life in prison without parole. She is currently housed in Cape May County jail.
“She said something about her baby and that she was walking towards Walgreens when it happened,” the unidentified dispatcher said.
The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office announced the indictment against Nakira M. Griner on Friday morning. Charges of endangering the welfare of a child, tampering with evidence and creating a false public alarm also are included in the indictment against the 24-year-old Griner.
