‘Padmaavat’- Behind The Scene | Shahid Kapoor | Ranveer Singh:
With the release of ‘Padmaavat’, everyone is all praise for the three leads – Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor. The costumes and set designs were also applauded but the makeup effects were also completely on point. To illustrate this, here are a few pictures of Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh undergoing their makeup to show how they transformed into their characters.
In a series of pictures that have surfaced online, makeup artists can be seen working on Shahid to create the bloodied look of Rawal Ratan Singh when he is taken captive. Another series of pictures show Ranveer as the younger version of Alauddin Khilji and the makeup involved to nail that look. Overall, these pictures go to show how important this aspect is to the success of a film as grand as ‘Padmaavat’.
Ranveer Singh, as Alauddin Khilji, was maniacal, eccentric and plain crazy. The intention was to reflect his freakish personality. The kohl-lined eyes created the right drama and showed us the malevolent side of the actor. The bruises, distant-gazed look further added to his outlandish character. As for Shahid Kapoor, this was the first time he was playing a royal character. His makeover was drastic, the blood stained face was a look created for the dungeon sequence scene when the king was kept captive. Both looks gave off intense vibes and fit in perfectly with story. Hats off to Preeti Sheel for these incredible transformations. As for Deepika, she was a sight to behold in all the finery. The unibrow added a new dimension to the look. Her stature and striking face made her one of the most intimidating queens
