Peggy Lipton Dies at 72 – Peggy Lipton, the actress who best known for TV’s groundbreaking in the 1960s series “Mod Squad” and starring in the 1990s series “Twin Peaks,” has died at age 72.

The news was was announced Saturday by her two daughters Kidada and Rashida Jones, from Lipton’s marriage to music producer Quincy Jones.
“We are heartbroken that our beloved mother passed away from cancer today,” Read the statement “She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side. We feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her.”
The statement continued: “We can’t put all of our feelings into words right now but we will say: Peggy was, and will always be our beacon of light, both in this world and beyond. She will always be a part of us.”
Actress Peggy Lipton succumbed to colon cancer.
“I never saw myself as trend-setting,” Lipton told the L.A. Times in 1993. “We were always working. Fame really drove me into my house. I was very paranoid. I didn’t like going out. I had no idea how to be comfortable with the press. I was very young. It was really hard for me.”
Peggy Lipton was nominated for Emmys and won a Golden Globe in 1971 for her performance. Lipton married music producer Quincy Jones in 1974 and seperated in 1989. Peggy Lipton started modeling at age 15 and started acting at 19
On “Angie Tribeca,” Peggy Lipton worked as Rashida Jones’ mother Peggy Tribeca. She recently appeared in “Claws” and “A Dog’s Purpose” and played role in Kevin Costner’s “The Postman” and on “Popular,” “Alias” and “Crash.” Claire Danes played the “blonde cop” role in the 1999 feature film version of “The Mod Squad,” and Lipton returned for a brief cameo.
In 1968, Peggy Lipton released a self-titled album and had a hit in 1970 with a cover of Donovan’s “Wear Your Love Like Heaven.” Lipton was attached romantically to Paul McCartney, Sammy Davis Jr. and Elvis Presley.
