Chicago-based R&B singer Jeremih has been hospitalized with coronavirus,
The 33-year-old singer was in an intensive care unit and relying on a ventilator.
Jeremih, whose birth name is Jeremy Felton, grew up on the South Side of Chicago and attended Morgan Park High School and Columbia College.
He burst onto the national music scene with his 2009 debut single, “Birthday Sex,” and solidified his status as a hip-hop and R&B mainstay with his “Late Nights” trio of mixtapes and albums. His latest album, “Mih-Ty,” a collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign, was released in October 2018.
Several musicians took to social media to send Jeremih their best wishes, including Chance the Rapper, who asked people to pray for Jeremih in a tweet.

Chance the Rapper, who has collaborated with Jeremih in the past, also shared his prayers on social media, tweeting, “Please if you can take a second to pray for my friend Jeremih, he is like a brother to me and he’s ill right now. I believe in the healing power of Jesus so if you can for me please please say a prayer over him.”
On Saturday, rapper and producer Hitmaka posted a photo of Jeremih to his Instagram with the caption, “I need everyone to pray for my brother @jeremih this message is posted with his mothers blessings❤️.” He also posted messages to his Instagram stories, writing, “My dawg changed my life, he gone pull through pray for @Jeremih” and, “We need that energy 🙏 pray for my brother he gone shake back.”
“Pray for my boy Jeremih he’s not doing good this covid shit is real,” 50 cent said. On Instagram, the rapper also wrote, “he’s in ICU in Chicago.”
“Prayers up,” Big Sean tweeted, “praying for your strength @Jeremih.”
“Prayers up to jerimah and his family,” Meek Mill wrote.
