The beloved television host and Ocean’s 8 actress filed the complaint on Wednesday, against the defendants, who are listed as John Does 1 through 100—as it’s unclear who exactly behind the alleged fraud websites.
Bullock and DeGeneres used an example of an ad that used a screen-grab of Bullock on The Ellen Show accompanied by fake quote about an anti-ageing face cream and serum.
The lawsuit read, “These companies change names frequently, merge in and out of entities formed in states that allow for secrecy, operate websites that pop up and disappear overnight, and generally do everything possible to ‘stay one step ahead of the sheriff’.”
“They are targeted because of their age, their unimpeachable reputation for honesty and having worked hard at maintaining a healthy and youthful look, which con artists believe will attract and dupe unwitting customers into getting bilked by giving up their credit card information,”
Sandra Bullock And Ellen Degeneres listed 40 beauty products that have been sold online with their names fraudulently attached in the misleading ads, items like Bella Pelle Wrinkle Cream, that “they have never heard of, used or endorsed.”
The misleading ads claimed, She was speaking about the skin care beauty products which promised viewers the 55-year-old actress looking so youthful and even admitting to starting a backlash from plastic surgeons furious over her age-defying serum.
