Shooting At Mississippi Walmart Leaves 2 People Dead, 2 Wounded – A gunman was shot and arrested Tuesday, after open firing inside Mississippi Walmart in the town of Southaven, 15 minutes south of Memphis, Tennessee on Tuesday.
Southaven Mississippi Walmart Shooting:
A gunman fatally shot two people and killed them and also wounded a police officer on Tuesday.
The Southaven Police officer was hurt by the gunman in his bulletproof vest and not seriously injured and was expected to be alright.
According to Investigators, the incident unfolded Tuesday morning at the chain’s store in Southaven, a city roughly 14 miles south of Memphis, Tenn. The Walmart is in a large shopping complex at a busy exit off Interstate 55 in Southaven, a suburb of 55,000 people.
The officer shot the gunman, who was hospitalized in an unknown condition, DeSoto County Sheriff Bill Rasco told.
Who Were Dead In Mississippi Walmart Shooting:
Both of the people who died Tuesday morning at the fatal shooting in Southaven Mississippi Walmart were Walmart employees. one outside the store, the other inside.
A Walmart employee said that the shooter is a former employee who worked at the store for 25 years before recently being fired.
Phil Cox, 70, told he had just bought nasal spray and was in the parking lot at that time he heard a gunshot, and then saw a man runs into the store.
“Everything went crazy at that point,” Cox said, expressing sympathy for employees. “It’s just hard to believe what happened here, but it seems like it’s happening everywhere.”
Carlos Odom, a 35-years-old witness described the incident, Odom typically comes to Walmart to visit his cousin, who works there. Odom was leaving around 6:30 a.m. when he heard more than a dozen shots.
“I just hear gunshots,” Odom said
“When the cops run into Walmart, you hear more gunshots. After that, it stopped.”
